Earlier this month, Relatives received its first updates since February 6, 2024 (Relatives v3.2.7). Relatives is a commercial Windows genealogy (there is a “lite” demo version available) which bills itself as a true WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) genealogy program, with an emphasis on speed and displaying your family tree, both on your computer, but also with HTML/web output. It fully supports GEDCOM 5.5 (more details below). I can attest to the speed of the interface.
These two updates are mainly focused on adding checks, record verification, improved search, and media handling.
When it first came out in 2008, it received an award from Tamura Jones (link) mentioning its speed, as well as handling non-standard GEDCOM tags “perfectly”, as it would import non-standard tags as tags, and export them as well, including changing invalid GEDCOM extensions into valid ones. I did not fully test out the latest version, but I did try Relatives LIGHT 3.2.9 and it was extremely fast with importing and with displaying a graphical family tree (that was easy to navigate around).
