Genealogical Data Analysis v0.90

Yesterday, Genealogical Data Analysis v0.90 was released by GeneaSofts.com. It is still under development, but already has a lot of features, and the name for this Windows genealogy research utility is accurate – from the official website: “Genealogical Data Analysis checks your genealogical data, advises you on how to improve the quality of your data, and provides leads for further research.

Version 0.90 is a major update (the last update was at the beginning of December, 2024), and you can see the changes and new additions below, but the main updates are a new “Research Wizard” which can generate a list of research you may need to do, and individual records can now be displayed. There is also a new feature for exporting directly into an Excel format file.

The program does what the name says – it reads in your GEDCOM 5.5 files and provides analysis such as:

  • Data verification
  • Data consistency
  • Duplicate search
  • A score for quality assessment

It runs on Windows XP or later, and there are free and paid versions, with different levels of analysis.

You can download the demo/free version here at GeneaSofts.com.

Genealogical Data Analysis v0.90 – January 31, 2025
New: The Research Wizard
Can draw up a list of the research to be carried out to advance your genealogy. Genealogical Data Analysis analyzes your data and draws up a list of information to be found or missing sources, because information without a source is dubious information. The research assistant can be adapted to your needs, allowing you to select the information you feel is required to guarantee the quality of your data. The search assistant will soon enable you to organize your search according to the method of your choice.
New: The individual record
Displays information on a person, his or her relations and the information to be searched for. Individual records can be displayed using the results explorer, searches (duplicates, ascendants, descendants) and the search assistant. Multiple records can be displayed simultaneously to simplify understanding of your genealogy, and records can be opened from within a record.
New: Results can be exported directly into Excel format, and displayed by an internal “viewer” that does not require Excel.
Enhanced/Upgraded Features
The Explorer and Search windows (duplicates, ascendants, descendants) can now be opened simultaneously, making it easier to compare information.
The explorer and search windows (duplicates, ascendants, descendants) can now open individual records.
The explorer and search windows (duplicates, ascendants, descendants) now allow you to move to a person’s information with a single click, and display detailed records by person or by family.
The explorer and search windows (duplicates, ascendants, descendants) can now be used to export results directly in Excel format.
Several tools have been revised and improved: data verification, data indexing and optimization, and data structure updating.
Finally, we have revised and improved the presentation of all windows to make them clearer and easier to use.
