Yesterday, Chronoplex Software released a minor update to GEDCOM Validator. It’s a free Windows-based utility that was designed to check and validate GEDCOM files, and look for any issues that could lead to data loss if you were to transfer GEDCOM files between various genealogy applications.
This validates GEDCOM 5.5 files all the way up through GEDCOM 7.0 files, and can repair the text encoding of GEDCOM 1.x through GEDCOM 5.x files, something handy for those who have been given an older GEDCOM file or older genealogy program’s data and are tasked with recovering the data.
It’s a utility that might be extremely useful to a lot of people, both genealogists as well as genealogy software developers.
It does require the Microsoft .NET Framework 4.8 or later.
