The “Backup and Restore Family Historian Settings via Windows” plugin for Family Historian genealogy software was updated to version 1.3 a few days ago, and it’s a significant upgrade (it was last updated in February of 2023). It has improved script file handling, improved dialogs and menus, and is now fully unicode compatible, along with a few other changes (list is below).
The plugin is an important one for those who might be upgrading or changing computers or reinstalling Windows and all of their apps – from the official description:
….a simple and convenient method for backing up and restoring Family Historian custom settings and features, such as Plugins, Custom Queries, Fact Sets, Language Packs, etc, using Windows scripts for file management. This gives a faster backup than using traditional plugin methods, and can be used either for restoring to the original PC or transferring all customisations to a new or additional PC.
It works with Family Historian 5, 6, and 7, and can be used with Family Historian installs that are running on WINE under macOS and Linux.
