Clooz 4.3.0 was released this week, right before the holiday (here in the US) by Ancestral Systems, LLC. and it has a few bug fixes (including a performance fix), but could be considered a semi-major update with new options for default settings in the toolbar, as well as an enhanced record merge function (see the change notes below).
As mentioned in the past, Clooz is not a traditional genealogical program you use to build your family tree, but is instead a genealogy research tool that interacts directly with four traditional genealogy programs (Ancestral Quest, Family Historian, Legacy Family Tree, RootsMagic) and with all other traditional genealogy programs through GEDCOM files. It helps you manage and organize documents/records and find out where you need to research next.
Current users can “Check for Updates” from within Clooz, and interested genealogists can download a demo here: https://shop.clooz.com (Windows 8 – Windows 11 required).
Clooz 4.3.0 Changes |
New: New options have been added to the Options page to allow the user to designate a default setting for the toolbar search/filter field. The field in the toolbar is reset each time Clooz is restarted. |
New: The record merge function has been enhanced to include markers in the document description of Information Records and the remarks field of other data types which separates data from merged records, indicating the date of the merger. If the two merged records both had Alternate IDs (Personal File ID in the Information Records) which differed, the ID value which the user did not choose to use in the new record are added to the description or remarks text |
Fixed an issue when auto-generating families from census records having multiple households, and there were duplicate page and line number combinations for different people. An error message will still appear for notification purposes, but not terminate the program. The line with the erroneous information will be skipped in regard to placement in a family, which the error message will identify. |
Fixed an issue causing the program to take a long time when switching to a person’s details in Information Record types having a larger number of multi-line text boxes. |
