A few weeks ago there was a major update to webtrees, an open-source genealogy web application, and last week there was an update addressing some issues that arose from that release, with a UI change.
webtrees allows you to collaborate with other genealogists or it can be just used to display and share a family tree with others without outside edit access. Note: It does require installing on a server/hosting you have control of.
For those still running PHP 7.4, you will need to stay with the webtrees 2.1.21 branch (webtrees 2.2.1 requires at least PHP 8.3). It’s a fork of the discontinued PhpGedView, and first came out over 20 years ago.

- If your server/host is running PHP 8.3 or newer, you are free to upgrade to webtrees 2.2.1.
- If your server/host is running PHP 7.4 – 8.2, you can install webtrees 2.1.21.
- If you are running PHP 7.1 – 7.3, you will need to remain with webtrees 2.0.26 (released November 2022).
- If you are running PHP 5.3 – 7.3, you will need to use webtrees 1.7.20 (released June 2022).
