These are the “minor” genealogy software updates that have been released since Sunday,February 2nd, 2025. There are several other “major” stories that I will cover later today – The Next Generation of Genealogy Sitebuilding upgrading to version 15, with much improved themes/interfaces, a new version of rootstrust, and GedSite.
The minor updates this week were mainly bug fixes performance improvements across various mobile apps.
Of note: Charting Companion 9 for macOS from Progeny Genealogy had been listed as being published already, with support for Family Tree Maker 2024 for Mac, but the Progeny Software website now mentions that it’s not yet released.
Genealogy Assistant and Genealogy Blurring Tools saw several nice improvements/additions.
The Family Historian User Group’s forums are currently under a bot attack and not available, but in the meantime, the main website is up.
Note: iOS/iPadOS (iPhone, iPad) and Google Android updates, as well as browser extensions, need to be downloaded from their respective stores. It’s not uncommon for the version numbers and release dates between the same app on different platforms (iPhone vs Android) to be different or slightly off. When the updates are the same between two platforms, the updates are only listed once.
If you don’t see an update to a particular genealogy app/program that you know received an update, that’s probably because received its own story, but if not – please contact us!
