Genealogy Software Briefs – February 16, 2025

These are the “minor” genealogy software updates that have been released since Sunday, February 9th, 2025.

A note of interest – The Family Book Creator, a plugin for Family Tree Maker, has a pending update, “Build 25xx” “available soon” with several new features. Only fixes are listed on the website.

Family Historian User Group/Forums are still having problems, but the home page and knowledgeable are up.

FamTree: Family Tree & DNA, a mobile app from Family Space Apps, has received a major update with some new features.

WikiTree Sourcer, a browser add-on for WikiTree, has received some major updates concerning the National Archive of Ireland, Ancestry.com, FindAGrave, UK GRO, and FamilySearch.

Note: iOS/iPadOS (iPhone, iPad) and Google Android updates, as well as browser extensions, need to be downloaded from their respective stores. It’s not uncommon for the version numbers and release dates between the same app on different platforms (iPhone vs Android) to be different or slightly off. When the updates are the same between two platforms, the updates are only listed once.

If you don’t see an update to a particular genealogy app/program that you know received an update, that’s probably because received its own story, but if not – please contact us!

  • Fixed: In some very rare cases, it was not possible to create a book about relatives. The application hang in an endless loop while collecting individuals to include. This issue has now been fixed
  • Fixed (FBC 2019): Field codes in default text elements (such as Title Page, Colophon, Dedication, Foreword and Introduction) were not retained after loading a FBC settings file. This issue has now been fixed.
  • Fixed (FBC 2019): Font style changes did not always show up as expected in default text elements (such as Title Page, Colophon, Dedication, Foreword and Introduction). This issue has now been fixed.
