Tonight, when I was going through the Genealogy Software of 2024 list, I noticed the little entry below in the changelog/version history (link) of Progeny’s Charting Companion – Charting Companion 9 has possibly been released, at least for macOS. It’s been 3 1/2 years since Charting Companion 8 came out, so it’s a significant upgrade.
If you’re not familiar with it, Charting Companion has been around for many years, and is a “complete solution for viewing, printing, and publishing customized family tree charts using any genealogy database program.“
Below is the entry:
Date | Version | Changes |
16 Nov 2024 | 9 | Charting Companion 9 FTM 2024 macOS |
Back in February there was this entry:
Date | Version | Changes |
14 Feb 2024 | 8.3 | FTM 2024 |
So they’ve been working on Family Tree Maker 2024 compatibility for a while, but the interesting thing to me is that the last major release of Charting Companion was in April of 2021, with the move to 64-bit only, and a new user interface for Windows.
Besides Family Tree Maker 2024 compatibility, I’m not sure what else has been added to Charting Companion 9 – we’ll have to wait and see.
