FamilySearch International has released an update to its iOS/iPadOS app, FamilySearch Memories 4.3.5, and “Memories” is an apt description of its functions – it’s meant to help you record/collect, and preserve/save family memories, such as taking photos or videos, as well as importing photos and documents, and audio and video recordings.
There’s an emphasis on using it to interview family members and record the details of their lives, and in that regard, it seems to do very well – it’s rated 4.8 out of 5 with over 15,500 ratings, which is a amazing rating for a mobile app.
It requires an iPhone or iPad running iOS 16.0 or iPadOS 16.0 or later, but can be used on a Mac running an Apple M1 CPU or later, with macOS 13.0 and higher. The “memories” are stored within the “FamilySearch vaults” (cloud service I’m assuming).
I’ve not used this very much outside of installing it and looking at it, but my kids will be using it with my parents in the near future.
This is not a major release, it’s simple “improved stability and fixed bugs”, but it’s the first release in around 8 months or so (FamilySearch Memories 4.3.4 was released in November of 2023).
It can be downloaded at Apple’s App Store here: (non-US users should be redirected to the proper App Store)
