Chronoplex Software and Andrew Hoyle have released a couple of minor updates to GEDCOM Validator over the past week. GEDCOM Validator is a Windows genealogy file utility that checks and validates GEDCOM files (it can validate 5.5, 5.5.1, 5.6, and 7.0 GEDCOM files) (see the screenshot below)
It’s especially helpful if you are moving genealogy data between genealogy programs, since genealogy programs sometimes treat GEDCOM specifications differently. It also provides help with fixing any problems that you may find, or if you come across an older GEDCOM file and can repair older files (back to 1.x).
The changes are:
- GEDCOM Validator Version 10.0.4.0 (20 July 2024) – Fixed issue with translations not loading.
- GEDCOM Validator Version 10.0.3.0 (13 July 2024) – Maintenance release.
It runs on Windows 10 (20H2 and later) and Windows 11, and requires .NET Desktop Runtime 8.0 or later.
It can be downloaded from one of two places:
