Excel2GED v3 2023-11-11

Last week, Excel2GED v3 was updated to build 2023-11-11. Excel2GED is an open-source project that provides a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet (with macro) that converts genealogy data stored in a spreadsheet into a GEDCOM text file with the proper .ged extension.

There are Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) macro buttons for exporting the GEDCOM file, which can then be imported into most, if not all, genealogy programs, complete with defined family relationships, BMD information, and source notes attached.

Some of the features besides maintaining family relationships include adopted children being handled correctly, support for same-sex couples, and proper GEDCOM 5.5.1 support.

Excel2GED was first made available in 2008.

It is available for download at: Excel2GED download | SourceForge.net

Output GEDCOM files are validated through GEDCOM Validator (chronoplexsoftware.com) and ShowMeGedcom (Familienbande Home (familienbande-genealogie.de))
