Robert Scott at Find My Roots Consulting has recently released a new version of his free FamilySearch browser extension, Family Tree Validator 24.05.06 (September 5, 2024). It is a browser extension for the Chrome web browser, and was apparently introduced at RootsTech 2024 earlier this year.
It is exactly what it sounds like – a browser extension that can help you validate (identify and correct) entries in your family tree at FamilySearch. When you are on a FamilySearch profile page, it looks for “inconsistencies, errors, missing data in your family’s tree.” It applies “common sense tests” to all of the information you are looking at, as well as attached source records (and makes sure it was fully added into your FamilySearch tree). Changes can be made on the spot, from within your browser (assuming you use Chrome). Some of the “common sense” tests include comparing “husband and wife, children, parents and siblings.”
Once you’ve installed the extension, login to FamilySearch and click on the Validator icon (upper right of your browser).
I’m not sure what is new with Family Tree Validator 24.05.06 – I’m contacting the developer to find out more about it.

As you can tell from my recent posts, I’m looking through genealogy browser extensions to put together a list of what’s currently updated, etc. both for this site, but also because I feel like I could be working a lot more efficiently when I’m on WikiTree, Ancestry.com, FamilySearch, etc.
