Genealogy Games: Family Tree! Logic Puzzles

There’s not a lot of genealogy games out there, at least for mobile devices, but there are a few, and it’s the weekend, and I thought I would mention one that caught my attention – Family Tree! Logic Puzzles. It looks polished, and made by a game development company, Lion Studios Plus,, and not a genealogy software company (read into that what you will). The app stores are filled with logic games these days, so it makes sense that there would be a genealogy game or two in the mix.

You can look at the screenshots (from the official site/store) to see immediately what it is. There is something about “building towns” so I’m guessing as you progress through the game and correctly work out various family trees, the town will grow. Here’s a bit from the developer’s description:

Family Tree logic game combines the excitement of solving puzzles, building towns, and unlocking various family stories. Family Tree IQ game allows users to collect clues related to their ancestors or historical events. These clues are used to unlock new branches of the family tree and reveal hidden secrets

..

Family Tree Exploration: Embark on a captivating journey through generations of a family tree, solving word puzzles that reveal the hidden tales and secrets of ancestors. As you progress, the story unfolds, offering the entire family a unique and enriching experience.

..

Nonogram Artistry: Immerse yourself in the world of nonogram puzzles, where clues guide your path to uncover stunning family portraits and historical artifacts. It’s not just a game; it’s a creative journey.

Clue Collection: Dive deep into the enigmatic past of a family tree as you gather clues to unlock its mysteries. Pay close attention to every detail, as each clue is a piece of the larger puzzle waiting to be solved.

It was released in May of 2023. It has decent ratings on both the Google Play Store as well as Apple’s App Store, and it’s updated fairly often, including last week. The updates are mostly bug fixes – the last new features were last month and then March of this year. There appears to be hundreds of levels.

It is free (ad-supported), and the ad-free option is a little pricey ($9.99 on iOS, and I believe $8.99 on Android), and speaking of ads, the ads also appear to be the biggest problem that many people have with it. I rarely let my kids play ad-supported games (and ad-supported games are extremely prevalent these days), as too many times the advertising is inappropriate at some point.

Don’t consider this a review – I have this downloaded, but have not played it yet – I looks interesting, but I doubt I will play it much, but I know at least one of my kids will play it a lot (albeit I may have to buy the ad-free version). I’m just glad to see somebody is making genealogy-related games.
